Eco-Friendly Steps from Tavuk Dünyası

Tavuk Dünyası, through its significant sustainability efforts, transformed the napkins, straws, and table runners used in its restaurants, preventing the cutting of trees. The brand switched to long-lasting crates for product deliveries and transitioned 35 company vehicles to electric vehicles.

Tavuk Dünyası, one of the pioneers of the "fast-casual" restaurant experience in Turkey, brought numerous projects to life under the banner of "Dünyamızı Seviyoruz" as part of its sustainability commitment. Having recently transitioned to eco-friendly products across many items — from napkins and straws to cardboard boxes — the brand is achieving significant savings in paper and water consumption. Tavuk Dünyası CEO Volkan Mumcu, who expressed that they are carrying out many initiatives to leave a livable world for future generations, said: "As Tavuk Dünyası, we are taking important steps in line with our sustainability goals. In this context, we are implementing numerous transformations and aim to improve everything we touch. Through the practices we carry out in our offices, restaurants, and production and logistics network, we want to leave a cleaner world for future generations."

Mumcu, who stated that they switched to biodegradable bio-straws, recyclable paper napkins, and table runners in order to reduce the negative environmental impact of napkins, straws, and table runners — the most frequently used items in restaurants — said: "By switching napkins and straws and reducing paper and plastic usage, we have prevented the cutting of many trees through the savings we achieved." Noting that their sustainability-focused activities are not limited to these, Mumcu continued: "We switched from cardboard boxes to long-lasting crates for our product deliveries. Paper consumption related to cardboard use has been significantly reduced, and in addition to the trees we have protected through this practice, we have also prevented a considerable amount of water waste."

Switched to Electric Vehicles

Mumcu, who noted that they have also carried out transformations in their offices as part of their sustainability activities, said: "We removed plastic bottle usage in our headquarters and introduced water dispensers. With this practice, we put an end to the use of approximately 1,650 plastic bottles per month, preventing a large amount of carbon dioxide from being released into nature." Mumcu stated that through the solar panels used at Tavuk Dünyası's production and logistics center in Ankara, they generate 473,660 kilowatts of clean energy per year, and that 35% of the energy consumed is obtained from renewable sources. He also added that they replaced 35 company vehicles with electric vehicles, thereby preventing carbon dioxide emissions.

"We Will Continue to Protect Our World with New Projects"

Mumcu, who expressed that they continue to focus on environmentally conscious projects in terms of their branding journey and guest loyalty, said: "Through our efforts to reduce paper usage, we are making a positive contribution to the fight against global climate change by significantly reducing the carbon emission rate. By protecting trees, we contribute to the preservation of habitats and biodiversity, and support the sustainability of natural resources for future generations. Within the scope of our long-standing collaboration with TEMA, we continue to donate 10 saplings for each new restaurant opening."

Mumcu concluded his remarks by saying: "We will continue to protect our world with new projects. All of these efforts will also contribute to achieving our sustainability goals and strengthening our eco-friendly image."
